This is one of two, that I am listing separately because they are not identical. This item and Yew Tealight 2 are from the same piece of yew. It began with a log about 6 inches long, that I cut into two on the vertical plane straight through the dead centre. Because the two halves have not grown at an equal rate one piece is slightly larger than the other.
Turning yew in this way brings both sap wood and heart wood into play. The sap wood is white and heart wood basically orange, with lots of other colours popping up. The sap of the yew is blood coloured and this can result in purple streaks coming into sight.
